Amaravati Raft Foundation: As a part of the Amaravati capital construction, the raft foundation installed by hammering stone slabs underground for the construction of the Secretariat buildings has finally come out. Immediately after the change of government in 2024, a committee was formed to examine the strength of the foundation. Experts from IIT Madras have made it clear that the foundation can be inspected and construction can continue. After this, CRDA finalized the tender and started the process of extracting water. Heavy motors were installed to remove water from the foundation in about 20 days.
The foundation stone of Amravati’s iconic towers was laid on Sunday. These constructions were made in the form of a total of five towers. The water had almost flowed away from the first two towers. It is estimated that the water in the remaining towers may be emptied in two to three days. Nearly 16 lakh cubic meters of water has entered the foundations of the iconic towers. The construction of the iconic towers will resume once the water is completely drained. Before the work starts, the foundation will be tested again by IIT experts. CRDA sources say that the construction of the towers will continue as per the already decided design. It is being said that if there is a suggestion to reduce the height of the buildings, then the design will be changed accordingly.
At present, even if water is completely removed, it still results in more sludge. Efforts are being made to connect that also. The work of pouring water started on the 25th of last month. Water was pumped using motors continuously for about 24 days. 1,2 blocks of raft foam detection were seen on Sunday evening. Construction work started on 7 December 2018. Work came to a halt in June 2019. Water rose up to 16 feet in the foundations of buildings. At present two blocks are out of water and he says that the rest will also be lifted soon. The place where the towers have been constructed has a good water source, so they are trying to close it. Officials said construction work will be started after complete drying.
