How to apply for passport

People applying for a passport can process it by visiting the website. Processing fee is payable. Apart from this… there will also be background verification. The local police will have to verify and give approval. You will get the passport once all the qualifications are fulfilled. Passport is mandatory for traveling abroad.

Tatkal passport system is useful in emergency situations to obtain passport in minimum time. Tatkal passport can be applied for online. If all the documents are correct then the passport will arrive at home within a week of the interview.

Application Process…

Step 1: This process is useful for new application or renewal of existing passport through Tatkal Passport. Apply online and pay the fee. Make an appointment for a personal interview.

Step 2: Click on New User Registration on the home page and register with applicant details and e-mail ID.

Step 3: After registration, login to the passport portal. Click on ‘Download e-Form’ on the homepage and then select ‘Fresh Passport’ option Step 4: Then select ‘Tatkal’ in the mode.

Step 5: Enter the details in the downloaded e-form. Verify and save. After this the XML file will be generated.

Step 6: Then go to ‘Upload e-Form’ option and upload the XML file.

Step 7: Click on the ‘Pay and Schedule Appointment’ option to make an appointment at the Passport Seva Kendra.

Step 8: Select a Passport Seva Kendra and book an appointment. Then pay the fee.

Step 9: An application receipt containing the application reference number or appointment number will be generated. Take a print of it.

Step 10: Attend the interview at the Passport Seva Kendra with the printed application form and original documents.
