APHC on ticket prices: Anger over AP High Court and state government’s order not to increase ticket prices for more than ten days

APHC on ticket prices: AP High Court has banned increasing Sankranti movie ticket prices. It has been clarified that the increase in ticket prices of the films Game Changer and Daku Maharaj should be limited to 10 days.

The High Court has quashed the Andhra Pradesh government order that allowed the makers of Daku Maharaj and Game Changer to sell tickets at higher prices for 14 days before the release date. It directed the government to limit the increase in movie ticket prices to the first 10 days. It has been announced that a complete order in this matter will be issued on Friday.

A bench headed by High Court Chief Justice Dheeraj Singh Thakur and Justice Chimalapati Ravilla passed the order on Wednesday on a petition filed against the increase in movie ticket prices. Guntur-based Arigella Srinivas filed a PIL in the Sulu High Court challenging the state government’s order allowing film producers to sell tickets of Balakrishna-starrer Daku Maharaj and Ram Charan-starrer Game Changer at higher prices for the first 14 days. Was given.

The bench headed by CJ investigated this petition. The counsel hearing the arguments on behalf of the petitioner raised the question that the AP government had earlier issued GO-13 allowing sale of tickets at higher prices for the first 10 days for films with a budget of more than Rs 100 crore. , and unlike that in GO-13, a memorandum was issued to allow two films to be sold at higher prices for 14 days. He complained that the memo was issued against the orders of the AP government.

Balakrishna, who starred in Daku Maharaj, is currently an MLA, is the Chief Minister’s own brother-in-law and Ram Charan is the son of Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, for these reasons permission was issued to charge higher prices for the two films. Considering the fact that two people died in a road accident while on their way to the pre-release event of the film Game Changer, there was an argument for canceling the late night premiere show. The CJ bench responded and ordered the AP government to limit the high prices of films to the first 10 days.

Responding to the plea to stop the premiere show, the court said, ‘Your request is to stop the experiments in Sriharikota because people died in road accidents while traveling to and from Sriharikota for the rocket experiment. The hearing was adjourned saying that appropriate orders would be issued on the PIL.
