CBN in Delhi: CM appealed to the Center to provide 100 % assistance to Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada metro projects
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has met Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khatar in Delhi. Several projects related to the state were discussed with the Union Minister. Speaking on Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada metro rail projects, he said that these projects are important to reduce traffic congestion in Andhra Pradesh, improve economic growth and improve transport facilities in towns.
Viskha and Vijayawada metro projects were immediately approved and asked to provide financial assistance. A note has been presented to the Union Minister, explaining the importance of these projects in improving infrastructure and solving the challenges of urbanization.
The Hyderabad Metro Rail was approved before the partition of the state. CM said that Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada projects are pending. The Bhogapuram International Airport is expected to be completed by June next year, as it is important to link the metro corridor to the national highways. The goal is to add major city centers in the first phase. He later said that the expansion plan was employed at the airport.
It has been decided to strengthen regional connectivity with the establishment of Vijayawada metro system as the entrance to the capital Amravati. It is necessary to contribute to economic development in Vijayawada neighborhood. The Chief Minister considered the project a priority to meet the growing transport needs of the city.
The CM urged the CM to provide 100% central assistance to these two metro rail projects, which are important in the development of the state, not in a state of chaos.
He appealed to the Center to support Phase -1 permit and land acquisition. CM Chandrababu explained to Union Minister Khatar that these projects will reduce air pollution and solve traffic problems and contribute to prolonged economic development.
