Companies focus on branding in Maha Kumbh Mela.. Rs 3600 crore spent!
Mahakumbh Mela 2025 has started in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. About 45 crore devotees are expected to come in this. Indian companies see this event, held every 12 years, as an important opportunity to promote themselves. From banking sector to food industry, they spend heavily on marketing.

It is estimated that companies spend around Rs 3,600 crore on advertising and marketing during the Maha Kumbh Mela. A large portion of this budget is allocated for public advertising. Companies have taken steps to display advertisements near bathing areas.
Kunal Lalani, president of Crayons Advertising, which holds the advertising rights for the Maha Kumbh Mela, said companies are making advertisements to make brands more visible. He said that 70 percent of the total expenditure on branding in the Kumbh Mela will be spent on bathing places.
Promotion of reputed companies
On this occasion, famous companies like Coca-Cola, ITC, Adani Group, Hindustan Unilever, Dabur, Bisleri, Park, Emami, Reliance Consumer Products, Bank of Baroda, SpiceJet have acquired branding rights. These companies are planning to make their brands more accessible to the people.
But companies are focusing on more than just simple methods. Social media platforms are also promoting with the help of influencers. According to a report by Economic Times, companies are increasing their visibility through these digital channels. Mahakumbh Mela will continue till 26 February 2025. Companies are looking to use the event for branding, which attracts a large number of devotees.

On the other hand, PhonePe has launched an insurance plan starting at Rs 59 for people visiting the Maha Kumbh Mela. The plan can be purchased in-app until February 25, 2025. It is designed to assist in accidents, medical emergencies and other travel related issues.
