A Prohibition era football hero is the unwitting pawn in a bookmaking scheme as a love-struck coed and an enterprising reporter seek to exploit him in mutually exclusive ways. His preoccupation with the meaning of existence matches him with an eccentric physics professor whose experiments cause him to dematerialize whenever he is aroused in any way.
