Airtel-Tata merger: Airtel in Tata Play DTH merger; Ongoing talks
Airtel-Tata Merger: Bharti has interacted with Bharti Telemedia Limited with Airtel Tata Group on the deal to merge the Tata Play Direct-to-Hom (DTH) business. Bharti Airtel confirmed this. “We want to inform that Bharti Airtel Limited and Tata Group Tata Play Limited Tata Limited Tata Group Direct to Home (‘DTH’ Airtel is a bilateral talk to merge with Airtel affiliated Bharti Telemedia Limited. The above case is only in talks,” Bharti told Airtel stock exchanges.
Income for Airtel
The Economic Times reported that the agreement would be through the merger company with more than 50 percent per Airtel. This merger helps Airtel to increase income in the non-mobile section. Tata also said that Airtel would use about 20 million homes through play play connections. It connects broadband, telecom and DTH plans to the same membership. The agreement will be huge after the merger of Vidicon D2H and Dish TV in 2016.
Merge through shares swap
The Economic Times reported that the proposed merger shares will be through swap and through convergence to increase Airtel’s non-mobile revenue. Airtel has a majority of 52–55% in the merger company, including Tata Play shareholders, including Walt Disney, 45–48%. This merger company is likely to lead Airtel Senior Management. However, Tata said two board seats were sought.
