AP Invest: AP CM Chandrababu appeals to Bill Gates to collaborate in health, education and innovation
AP INVESTMENT: CM Chandrababu asks Bill Gates to start a center of excellence for health innovation and diagnostics in Andhra Pradesh, which will provide advanced health facilities to the people. The Chief Minister invited Bill Gates to be part of the advisory board of the Artificial Intelligence University to be set up in Andhra Pradesh.
Chandrababu suggested that the health dashboard and social programs successfully implemented by the Bill Melinda Gates Foundation should also be conducted in Andhra Pradesh. He called for providing support for local use of international innovations. The Chief Minister said that support will be given to Bill Gates Foundation to make Andhra Pradesh the gateway to the southern states.
Looking forward to BMGF participation
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that he was very happy to meet Bill Gates after a long time. Gates has been an inspiration to everyone in using technology and focusing on innovation. The Chief Minister said that both sides discussed the possibilities of mutual cooperation on health and artificial intelligence innovation. He said that BMGF wants to be a partner in the progress of Andhra Pradesh…and is looking forward to it.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Minister of State for IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh met Microsoft chief and global IT giant Bill Gates at the Davos Promenade Microsoft Café. Chandrababu reminded Bill Gates that when he was the Chief Minister of the United States, the face of Hyderabad had changed after Microsoft trusted him to set up its IT centre.
Minister Nara Lokesh requested to provide assistance and support for the development of IT in AP which is developing rapidly. He asked to participate in the advisory council of the world class AI University to be established in Andhra Pradesh. On behalf of the Bill Melinda Gates Foundation, he asked to partner with the AP government to set up a center of excellence for health innovation and diagnostics in AP as Bill Gates’ suggestions will contribute to the development of IT in the state.
AP is to act as a gateway to the activities of Bill Melinda Gates Foundation in South India to provide expertise on behalf of the Foundation in social entrepreneurship on the lines of health dashboard in Africa to drive innovation incubation ecosystem in the state. Invitation to Hindustan Unilever:
Chief Minister Chandrababu held a meeting with Willem Ujzen, chief supply chain officer of Unilever, a company that sells consumer goods across the world. Unilever is a company known for its products related to food, home care, beauty, personal care. Hindustan is selling it in India under the name of Unilever. Looking to expand further to meet the demand in India. As part of this, AP has Rs. Palm oil industry is expected to be established at a cost of Rs 330 crore. The Chief Minister explained to Willem Ujjain that Visakhapatnam is suitable for setting up a technology hub in relation to the beauty portfolio. He said Hindustan Unilever could utilize the large amount of agricultural produce in the state… The state would be suitable for food processing, manufacturing of beauty and home care products. The Chief Minister asked them to come forward for investment in the state.
The AP is compatible with Google Cloud deployment
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has asked Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian to look into the possibility of setting up a design center in Visakhapatnam, where Google manufactures its own chips for servers. The Chief Minister asked Thomas Kurian to set up a manufacturing unit in AP so that Google Cloud can add to its server supply chain.
The Chief Minister told Thomas Kurian that AP should be made the main center in the matter of server maintenance services and there will be full cooperation of the state government in this. Chief Minister Chandrababu, who went to Davos as part of the World Economic Forum conference, held discussions with heads of major organizations to attract investment in the state on the third day of his visit.
Several agreements already in place with Google:
Google Cloud, the world’s third largest cloud provider, has already set up two cloud regions under its platform in Delhi and Mumbai, India. Recently, Google signed an MoU with the state government to set up its ‘Data City’ in Visakhapatnam. It has also signed an agreement with AP to develop the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and enhance skill development opportunities for the youth of the state.
Chief Minister talked to Petronas Chairman
Chief Minister Chandrababu held discussions with Petronas Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Taufiq. Petronas is a Malaysian oil and natural gas company. At present it is trying to invest in Green Hydrogen, Green Ammonia, Green Molecules in India. It aims to produce 5 million tonnes of green ammonia per year by 2030. In this context, investment of Rs 13,000 crore to Rs 15,000 crore will be made in Kakinada plant. The Chief Minister invited Muhammad Taufiq to invest in Moolapet, which is emerging as a petrochemical hub as well as a global capability centre.
Meeting with PepsiCo officials
Chief Minister Chandrababu held discussions with Eugene Willemsen, CEO of PepsiCo International Beverages, and Stephen Kehoe, Chairman of PepsiCo Foundation. PepsiCo is the second largest food and beverage company in the world. PepsiCo Beverages, which already runs a bottling plant at Sricity in AP… The Chief Minister suggested that Visakhapatnam could be set up as a global distribution hub for PepsiCo Digital Hub, giving them an opportunity to do business. Install Smart Container Terminal in AP
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu asked the world’s reputed container terminal company DP World to come forward to set up a smart container terminal in Andhra Pradesh. On the third day of the World Economic Forum conference being held in Davos, the Chief Minister talked to Rizwan Sumer, Managing Director of DP World Central Asia and Africa. He said though DP World has 5 container terminals in India, it does not have one in AP as of now, and there is a possibility of setting up a smart container terminal at Kakinada, Krishnapatnam and Moolapet in Andhra Pradesh. The Chief Minister asked Rizwan Sumur to consider this.
Meeting with Cenmat CEO:
The Chief Minister met Roberto Boca, member of the Executive Committee of the World Economic Forum and head of the Center for Energy and Materials (CENMAT) to launch SENMAT to help Andhra Pradesh attract investments from global companies in the fields of green hydrogen, battery storage and solar manufacturing.
