CBN In Davos WEF: CM Chandrababu’s promising Davos visit.. meetings on second day without break
CBN at Davos WEF: Denmark-based Maersk, one of the world’s largest shipping companies, is interested in investing in Andhra Pradesh. Maersk, which operates in 130 countries and is the king of the global transportation sector, comes to the state and AP becomes the country’s leader in maritime transportation.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu held important discussions with Maersk CEO Vincent Clerc on the second day of the World Economic Forum (WEF) conference in Davos. The Chief Minister told Vincent Clerk that Andhra Pradesh is strong and has no dearth of human resources, it has a coastline of more than a thousand kilometers and a large number of ports.
Benefits of Maersk coming to the state..
Maersk has no problems transporting heavy products and commercial goods by sea around the world. If Maersk comes to AP, thousands of people will get job opportunities. There will be further development of ports in the state, mainly Visakhapatnam Port. AP has the potential to become a transportation hub for Asia Pacific markets. Then the export and import sector will become stronger. Apart from emerging as a global logistics hub, AP will play a major role in India’s economic growth.
Invitation to ‘Cisco’ for investment:
Chief Minister Chandrababu held a meeting with Chuck Robbins, Chairman and CEO of Cisco, a multinational technology company known for providing technologies in networking such as Ethernet, Optical, Wireless, Mobility, Data Center and Internet of Things. The Chief Minister expressed his desire to partner with Chuck Robbins in the growth of Cisco, a global leader in technology innovation.
Meeting with CEO of LG Chem Ltd:
In Davos, the Chief Minister told Shin Hak Cheol, CEO of LG Chem Limited, about the investment possibilities in various sectors in the state. LG Chem is South Korea’s largest chemical company and the Chief Minister called on LG Chem’s subsidiary Energy to be set up in the state, which is planning to set up a 1.5 billion lithium-ion battery plant.
It was suggested to examine the possibilities of setting up units in the petrochemical sector at Moolapet-Visakhapatnam and a semiconductor unit at Tirupati. CM Chandrababu assured that he will provide all facilities for manufacturing in the state and will give full support to set up the plant soon.
Discussion with Carlsberg Group CEO:
Chief Minister Chandrababu also held discussions with Jacob Arup Andersen, CEO of Carlsberg Group, which produces juices, soft drinks, beer, packaged drinking water. A request has been made to set up an integrated brewery and bottling unit in the state. For this he asked to inspect the industrial parks in Visakhapatnam, Krishnapatnam and Sri City. He called for partnering with farmers to procure high quality food products like barley, maize and rice in Andhra Pradesh.
Discussion on ArcelorMittal project:
ArcelorMittal/Nippon Steel Executive Chairman Lakshmi N. on the 17.8 million tonne capacity integrated steel project being set up at Anakapalle with an investment of Rs 1.4 lakh crore. Mittal, Chief Minister Chandrababu discussed with CEO Aditya Mittal. This massive greenfield project is one of the largest investments in the state in recent times. The Chief Minister also discussed the investment with Welspun Chairman BK Goenka.
Global Leadership Center in Amravati:
Chandrababu said that the Global Leadership Center (GLC) in Amravati will help in preparing future leaders. He said an agreement has been signed between IMD Business School and GLC of Switzerland to enhance leadership development. Chandrababu pointed out the need to use technology like AI and real-time data to solve complex problems and improve daily life.
AP as Green Energy-Green Hydrogen Hub:
Chandrababu said that efforts are being made to make the state a global hub of green energy and green hydrogen. Energy reform is also an example of sustainable development. He reminded that in 1999, when the state was facing power crisis, he was not successful in bringing bold power reforms.
Implementation of Clean Energy Policy in Mission Mode:
The Chief Minister said that he intends to make Andhra Pradesh a clean energy hub with a mission-mode approach to achieve sustainability goals. He said a huge investment of $115 billion has been attracted in the energy sector to generate 500 MW of renewable power and 500 million metric tonnes (MMT) of green energy by 2030, which is 30 per cent of the national target.
Support to entrepreneurs:
The Chief Minister assured that speed of doing business is his policy and will support industrialists for continuous research and development to further reduce energy costs. In his speech the Chief Minister recalled his long association with CII from 1995 till date. Also… In Davos, the Chief Minister called upon corporate organizations and leaders to come forward and take the responsibility of eradicating poverty and inequality in the society.
