Do you use public WiFi for free? Government tight warning!
If you have Wi-Fi then people enjoy a lot. This is especially the easiest way to connect when available in an airport, coffee shop or open space. The use of public Wi-Fi may risk your personal and financial information. The government has issued a strict warning to not use these networks for sensitive purposes such as financial transactions to protect its personal data.
Public Wi-Fi network does not have proper security. These become an easy goal for hackers and scammers. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CEO-in) has released a new reminder under the ‘Awareness Day’ program to raise awareness about digital security.
Do not transact
The government has advised the public to be careful in doing sensitive activities like banking or online shopping on public Wi-Fi networks. Cyber criminals can easily block the United Nations-safe connection through public Wi-Fi, which can also cause data theft, financial loss and fraud. The government has warned that if such a network is connected, transactions or personal information should be avoided.
Beware of password
Ceert-in has also shared some important security tips. Strong passwords should be used for all online accounts, not to click on links and attachments. Important files should be taken separately in the drive. It is said that if you do not take proper care then there will be difficulties. It is also dangerous to check email through public Wi-Fi or log into social media accounts.
