World’s first CNG scooter: TVS Motor Company has showcased the world’s first CNG based scooter Jupiter CNG at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. At present it has been presented as a concept model.
design features
Jupiter CNG replaces the standard Jupiter 125’s under-seat storage with a 1.4 kg CNG tank. The panel has a pressure gauge and a filler nozzle. This makes refueling easier. This scooter gives a mileage of 84 km per kilogram of CNG. Along with CNG system, this scooter also has a 2 liter petrol tank on the floor board. It has a filler cap attached to the front apron. It is a design borrowed from the traditional Jupiter 125. This dual-fuel setup offers a range of 226 km on a full tank of both CNG and petrol.
powertrain, performance
Jupiter CNG has a 124.8 cc, single cylinder engine. It produces 7.2 PS of power and 9.4 Nm of torque. Although these figures are slightly lower than the petrol-powered TVS Jupiter 125 (8.15 PS and 10.5 Nm), this CNG version still achieves a respectable top speed of 80 kmph. TVS (tvs motors) has designed this scooter with many modern features including LED head lamp, semi-digital instrument cluster, side stand indicator, engine in inhibitor. Fuel efficiency is further enhanced by the inclusion of the company’s IntelliGO Start-Stop technology.
launch date
At present, Jupiter CNG is still in the concept stage. TVS has not revealed when it will be fully launched. But, this revolutionary CNG scooter is likely to hit the market this year itself.
