In 1983, Maganti Gopinath entered politics through the Telugu Desam Party. He has demonstrated several responsibilities in the party. He also worked as the President of TDP Hyderabad district.
As part of the Telangana general election in 2014, he won the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency for the first time from the Telugu country. He then joined the BRS party. He won the 2018 and 2023 elections for the party. The BRS party is also the president of Hyderabad district.
