Maoist Damodar: Chhattisgarh encounter, prominent leader of Telangana Maoist Party Damodar killed
Maoist Damodar: Maoists have suffered a major setback. Security forces announced that 17 Maoists were killed in a Chhattisgarh encounter. Telangana Maoist Party Secretary Damodar was killed in this encounter. Damodar has been most wanted for many years. He worked as a leading member of the Maoist party for 30 years. Damodar’s hometown is Kalvapalle in Mulugu district. Police said that there is a reward of Rs 50 lakh on Damodar alias Chokkarao. There is a reward of Rs 25 lakh on Damodar in Telangana. Damodar had taken over as the secretary of the Maoist party six months ago. He is in charge of Maoist action teams.

Maoist state secretary Bade Chokkarao alias Damodar Sonturu died at Kalvapally in Tadvai mandal of Mulugu district. The villagers have tears in their eyes after hearing the news of Chokka Rao’s death. Damodar Cheragani left his mark in the United Warangal District Maoist Movement.
Maoist party statement
On January 16, security forces attacked Maoists in Pujari Kanker village under Usur police station in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The CPI (Maoist) South Bastar Division said in a statement that prominent leaders like Damodar, Hangi, Deve, Joga and Narasimha Rao were killed in the attack. The Maoist party accused security forces of inhumane repression in the name of “operation” in Pujari Kanker area of Bijapur district. Bastar has criticized these raids for plundering natural resources, plundering tribal lands and uprooting tribals from forests. However, CPI (Maoist) clarified that 18 Maoists were killed in this operation. CPI (Maoist) party said that Comrade Bade Chokka Rao (Damodar Dada) showed courage and was martyred while fighting. It said that his death has caused irreparable loss to the Maoist party.
Bijapur encounter
On Thursday, security forces killed 17 Naxalites in an encounter in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The firing started at around 9 am in the dense forest area of South Bijapur. A senior police officer said the firing continued till Thursday evening. A joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG), five battalions of CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) from three districts and personnel of the 229th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) took part in the operation.
Initial reports suggest that 17 Naxalites lost their lives in the fierce exchange of fire between security forces and Naxalites. There was no loss of life or property to the security personnel in this encounter. Two soldiers were injured when a pressure IED planted by Naxalites exploded near Putkel village under Basaguda police station of Bijapur on Thursday morning.
