Nagoba Jatara 2025: Time for Nagoba Jatara..! Great March of Mestrum Clans for ‘Gangajalam’

The tribals are ready to measure their gods. The people of Mesram first started the process of performing Nagoba Abhishekam in the same manner as the rituals followed since ancient times. The people of Mesram started the journey on foot to bring the sacred Ganga water needed for the consecration of Nagoba. Gathering at the Muradi temple in Kesalapur village, wearing white robes, they set out on foot in the traditional manner to Hastala Lagoon in the Godavari.

All the Mesram clan people of the combined district took out a padyatra for Ganga water under the chairmanship of Mesram clan’s Patel Mesram Venkata Rao at Muradi (Nagoba ancient temple). The march will continue for seven days. The journey has started… reached Salewada this morning. They will reach Dharmaguda on 13th January, Kothaguda on 14th, Udumpur on 15th and Mallapur village on 16th.

Holy worship of Gangamma…

On 17th of this month people reach Hastalamadugu in Godavari River near Kalamadugu in Jannarama Mandal and worship Godaramma. Holy Ganga water is collected in Nagoba Kalash. There they once again worship Gangamma and all eat together. Will travel back to Kesalapur village.

On the way to Indraveli, people of Mesram clan along with their families will reach there carrying Adalaband with sacred Gangaja Kalisham. On the 24th of this month, great worship of Indra Devi is done and in the evening they return to the banyan trees of Kesalapur village. Traditional pujas are conducted for three days and on the late night of 28th of this month, on the new moon day, Nagoba is consecrated with sacred Ganga water collected from Hastalamadugu of Godavari. The temple is purified and the Mahapuja begins.

Nagoba fair starts with Nagoba Mahapuja. Nagoba fair will continue for seven days. In a traditional manner, the people of Mesram undertake a padyatra till the Ganga before the Nagoba fair. They follow through on past commitments. This ritual is completed by wearing white clothes, head covering and dhoti in traditional attire without wearing slippers for months.

Collector’s main instructions on arrangements

Adilabad Collector Rajarshi Shah directed the officials to complete all arrangements to organize Nagoba Jatara on a grand scale. District SP Gaus Alam, Utnoor ITDA Project Officer Khushboo Gupta, Sub-Collector Yuvraj Marmat, Trainee Collector Abhigyan, Additional SP Kajal, Mesram Vamsiyalu and members of the temple committee conducted the review. Major suggestions were given on the arrangements. Devotees are advised to provide facilities to Maulak.

Adilabad district SP Ghaus Alam said measures were being taken to ensure that people visiting the tribal deity Nagoba fair do not feel inconvenienced. It is being told that apart from Telangana, devotees will also come from neighboring states Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. It has been announced that tight security arrangements are being made to ensure that traffic is not disrupted.
