Opposition from ministers, continuous agitation in gram sabhas – heavy application

Gram Sabhalu: Gram Sabhas run by the Congress People’s Government are becoming platforms for protest movements. While submitting massive applications for ration cards and Indiramma houses, they are focusing on local issues, raising questions on the status of applications given so far. Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, who visited the combined Karimnagar district, faced opposition.

Public administration village and ward meetings are being organized amid protests from the poor. Village and ward councils formed by the government for approval of new ration cards, Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma houses, Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa beneficiary selection list have become platforms for receiving applications and conducting protest movements. When the names of people who have been waiting for ration cards for years do not appear in the list prepared by the government, the eligible poor are expressing their anger and scolding the officials. They are expressing concern over why applications are being taken again. Due to the protests, officials are avoiding announcing the list prepared by the government in many villages and announcing that they will give new ration cards to all eligible poor and grant grants to Indiramma houses.

As part of the Prajapalan Gram Sabha, State Civil Supplies and Heavy Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and State Transport BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar led the protest. Participated in four gram sabhas along with a stormy tour of the joint district. Residents of Narayanpur Reservoir protested against the ministers who attended Jain Gram Sabha of Mankondur constituency, Narayanpur of Choppadandi constituency, Rudrangi of Vemulawada constituency, Renikunta of Manandur constituency and Jain Gram Sabha of Dharmapuri constituency. They expressed concern that their horns might sink into the reservoir. During rainy days, water from the reservoir would enter the houses and they had to spend the night awake. Others questioned how many more applications they would have to make for ration cards and Indiramma houses. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy became upset while speaking. The result was that former sarpanch Nazir Hussain was arrested by the police. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy assured that they will be collected and ration cards will be given to all the poor as Indiramma Ghar is a continuous process. He assured justice to the reservoir residents and ended the movement.

We are doing what previous rulers could not do…

Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that due to the negligence of the previous rulers, the poor have not received ration cards for ten years. He criticized the fact that not a single ration card was given in 10 years. He said that still 40 lakh people have applied for ration cards and announced that they will soon give ration cards to all the eligible poor and will give six kilos of thin rice to each person soon. He clarified that currently there are 90 lakh ration cards and they will function normally and there is no intention to remove the old cards. Indiramma Home Grant along with ration card is a continuous process. Only those who have not applied yet are requested to apply. He said that in the caste census, those who have previously applied in Prajavani, Prajapalan and Meeseva and have said that they do not have a ration card, will be identified and those who are eligible will be given ration cards.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar alleged that in the background of the implementation of the four schemes, some people are impatient and are provoking people. Those who could not do any work for ten years are now being accused of instigating that their names are not in the list. Don’t trust anyone’s words… Minister Ponnam said that no one should worry. Ration cards, Indiramma Ghar, Rythu Bharosa and Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa will be provided to all those who are eligible.

Ministers visit projects

Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar launched the projects in the combined Karimnagar district as part of the Prajapalan Gram Sabha. Visited Narayanpur and Kalikota Suramma reservoirs under construction. Local MLA Government whip Adi Srinivas, Medipalli Satyam said that the land acquisition work needs to be completed and requested the government to allocate adequate funds for the same and complete the work. The ministers said efforts would be made to conserve water in the Kalikota Suramma reservoir during the upcoming monsoon season. Similarly, the work of Narayanpur reservoir was also promised to be completed within a year. He criticized that the previous government spent thousands of crores of rupees and got nominal benefits. He said that the Congress Jana government will ensure that there is more profit at less cost. He said that Narayanpur and Kalikota Suramma reservoirs would be given high priority and would be completed within a year. He promised to provide complete justice to the flood victims.
