Pig Farming: Yang Yang Yangshi, a former flight attendant in China, decided to quit her job and return to her hometown to become a pig farmer. After choosing pig farming as a career, he earned 200,000 yuan (US$28,000) in just two months.

Yang, 27, grew up in a rural family in northeast China’s Heilongjiang province. After completing university, she worked as a flight attendant for a Shanghai-based airline for five years. He said his monthly salary was only 2,800 yuan (US$380) during the airline’s difficult times. She said that she often asked her parents for money while living in Shanghai. However, she later realized that to support her, her parents were cutting down on their expenses and also taking loans.

In October 2022, after learning that her mother had undergone multiple surgeries to remove lipomas, Yang decided to quit her job as a flight attendant and return to her hometown. Expressing deep guilt, she said, “My parents always tell me good news but hide bad news. Now I want to live with them.”

In April 2023, a pig farm belonging to Yang’s relatives was taken over and began breeding pigs. Yang said he earned 200,000 yuan (US$27,000) in the past two months by raising pigs, selling pigs and other livestock and managing his social media. She said she plans to expand her farm, open a specialty store and eventually a hotel.
