Sankranti Crowd: Bus stand closed due to Sankranti crowd, CM ordered to use buses of private educational institutions
Sankranti Crowd: During Sankranti, people come to Andhra Pradesh from many states including Hyderabad. APSRTC is running 7200 special services on the occasion of Sankranti. However, passengers have to face problems due to non-availability of buses on time. To solve this problem, CM Chandrababu has given several major suggestions to the RTC officials. Passengers are advised to use buses of private schools and colleges to reach their destination as soon as possible. RTC MD Dwaraka Tirumala Rao and CM Chandrababu directed transport officials to make arrangements to send passengers from major cities to rural areas.
Arrangements should be made to ensure that people do not face any problems.
CM Chandrababu ordered to select buses with fitness and use them to take people to their destination safely. He said that by making such arrangements on busy roads, people will not face any problem. Bus stands in major cities including Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram, Guntur, Nellore, Tirupati, Kurnool and Anantapur are packed with passengers. People are waiting for RTC buses to reach their hometown. RTC buses are not enough for lakhs of passengers.
Use buses of private educational institutions-RTC MD
On the orders of CM Chandrababu, RTC MD Dwaraka Tirumala Rao held a video conference with RTC, transport department and police officials. Discussed Sankranti crowding at the bus stand with officials. Instructed to take immediate steps to reduce crowding. Passengers are advised to arrange buses as soon as possible without waiting at the bus stand. He ordered to use private school and college buses if needed. RTC MD directed the officials to provide adequate facilities at the bus stand so that people do not face any difficulties. However, the transport department officials should take the responsibility of selecting buses for private educational institutions and should first check the condition of the buses.
Festival rush-7200 special buses
APSRTC has arranged 7200 additional buses in view of the Sankranti rush. RTC has announced that it will run special buses to many parts of Andhra Pradesh as well as the states of Telangana and Karnataka. RTC MD said that 3900 special buses will be run from January 8 to 13, of which 2153 buses will be run from Hyderabad, 375 from Bengaluru and 300 from Vijayawada. APSRTC said that they will run 3,200 special buses for the return journey from 16th to 20th of this month. APSRTC MD said that if Ranuponu tickets are booked online through APSRTC at the same time, 10 per cent discount on the ticket price will be given. Advance ticket booking facility has been provided in special buses.
