Sankranti Pig Fight: Kodi Pandalu Aam Guru.. Pig Fight is now in trend! Do you know somewhere?

The name of Kunchanpalli village in Tadepalligudem mandal of West Godavari district is now popular. The reason for this is the fight between pigs. Yes, there used to be a pig fight here during the Sankranti festival. Pig competition was organized under the aegis of Erukala Welfare Association. These competitions were organized in three categories and prizes were given to the winners.

Raspberry competitions..

Lively competitions were held between pigs coming from different parts of the state. A competition was organized between Pravasi village of Konaseema district and Buchi village of Nellore district in which the pig of Buchi village was the winner. A competition was held between pigs from Kommugudem and Tirupatipadu villages in West Godavari district in which the pig from Tirupatipadu won the second position.

Success of Tadepalligudem..

While pigs from Nidadavolu and Mandapeta villages in East Godavari district entered the ring, pigs from Mandapeta village won and stood third. A competition was organized between the villages Nidadavolu of East Godavari district and Tadepalligudem of West Godavari district.. Tadepalligudem won.

Need support..

Organizer Subbarao said on this occasion. But they are tied and bleeding with knives. Some chickens die. We don’t do that. We will organize competitions without the use of swords and risking lives. He said, ‘We need full support from the government to organize these competitions.’

On the occasion of Sankranti, a boat race was organized in Atreyapuram in the name of Sir Arthur Cotton Godavari Trophy. 11 teams participated in this competition. Dragon boat races and canoeing boating competitions were held over a distance of 1000 meters from Uchili to Atreyapuram. Each boat contained 12 people. Prizes were given to the winners.
