Supreme Court Collegium: Six new judges for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana High Courts – Supreme Collegium recommends
Six new judges will come to the high courts of Telugu states. The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the names of four new judges for the Telangana High Court and two for the Andhra Pradesh High Court. In the meeting held on January 11…a statement was issued recommending these names.
The collegium has recommended the names of Justices Renuka Yara, Nandikonda Narasimha Rao, Tirumala Devi and Madhusudan Rao as judges of the Telangana High Court. Avadhanam Hariharandha Sharma and Dr. Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao have been recommended as judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
Justice Sujoy Pal as Chief Justice of Telangana High Court:
The Central government on Tuesday notified the appointment of Justice Sujoy Pal as the acting Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court. Justice Alok Aradhe, the current Chief Justice of Telangana, has been transferred as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court. It is in this background that Justice Sujoy Paul was appointed.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India… the President appoints Justice Sujoy Pal to be the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court to perform the duties of his office,” the central government said in a statement. The notification was posted on the website of the Law Ministry.
Justice Sujoy Paul joined the Madhya Pradesh Bar Council as an advocate in 1990. He has practiced in civil, constitutional, industrial, service and other branches of law. Arguments were heard in many cases in different courts. He was elevated as judge of Madhya Pradesh High Court, Jabalpur on 27 May 2011. Appointed as a permanent judge on 14 April 2014.
