The Tata Punch Flex Fuel is powered by the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that powers its petrol variants. But this engine has been slightly updated to protect against the more dangerous effects of ethanol. This means that this engine now runs completely on 100 percent ethanol.
The petrol variant produces 86bhp of power and 115Nm of torque, while the power and torque figures remain unchanged. It is available with 5-speed manual, AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) options.
What does it mean?
The development of Tata Punch Flex Fuel is not just a technological breakthrough. This will help the government’s initiative to promote ethanol as an alternative fuel. Increasing the use of ethanol will not only reduce pollution but will also boost the country’s agriculture. Domestic ethanol production comes from local sources such as sugarcane and grains.
This step is beneficial for the government as it increases tax revenue. Creates new employment opportunities. Tata Motors showcased this flex fuel vehicle at the expo. He says that he is ready to comply with the new energy policy of the government.
