UPI Apps: UPI apps like phone pay pay pay and google will not work on these numbers from April 1.
UPI Apps update: New rules affecting UPI apps like Google Pay, Phone Pay and Paytm will be introduced from April 1, 2025. The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced that mobile numbers associated with UPI will be removed from bank accounts if they are not active for a long time. That is, if the mobile number is connected to your bank account, then the UPI app related to that bank account will not work.
Why did you bring this new clause?
This decision was taken by the NPI as the cases of cybercrime were increasing day by day. In active mobile numbers, banking and UPI systems are creating technical deficiencies. If telecommunications providers allocate these numbers to someone else, it will allow fraud. Therefore, a mobile number that is active to handle the UPI transaction easily is required. In addition, that number should be connected to your bank account.
See if it is active or not ..
Generally, telecommunications providers are activated by mobile numbers that are not recharged for a specific period. After that, they are assigned to other customers after a while. If that number is connected to the bank account related to the end customer, then the person can be made aware of cyber fraud. Therefore, customers need to ensure that mobile numbers associated with their bank accounts are active. If they contact the relevant telecom provider to find out whether their mobile number is active. NPCI has advised banks and UPI applications to revise the records of active mobile numbers every week.
