After the death of YSR in September 2009, the politics of the state changed completely. After this Jagan left Congress and formed YCP. After this YCP had to face many difficulties. Vijayasai Reddy was at the forefront during the formation of the party. Worked with Jagan like a shadow.
Vijayasai Reddy, who was an auditor, entered direct politics with the YCP. Following YCP’s defeat in the 2014 elections, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the party in 2016. YCP registered a sensational victory in the 2019 elections. After YCP came to power, Vijayasai Reddy’s role increased further. Everything was handled as if it were a local matter of the state. In 2022, Jagan gave a chance to Vijaya Sai Reddy for the second time in Rajya Sabha. His tenure is till 2028. Currently, he is serving as the leader of YCP party in Rajya Sabha.
Vijayasai Reddy had contested the Nellore Parliament seat in the AP general elections held last year. He was defeated in this election. Besides, the party also lost power. We had to be satisfied with only 11 assembly seats.
