Warangal Fraud: In the name of setting up an online examination centre, cyber criminals defrauded a major college in the suburbs of Warangal. The principal of the concerned college lodged a complaint with the police on Tuesday evening. Complete details are as follows.
On September 18, 2024, a mail was received from a renowned company in Bangalore to set up a center for conducting government jobs and other online examinations on the mail ID of a renowned college in the suburbs of Warangal city.
A Bengaluru based organization sent a mail for permission to conduct online examination jointly with the college.. Here the college management said ok. So from the other side, the application form for conducting the examination was sent by mail.. The college management filled it and sent it back to the same mail ID.
After this, when the college management asked him to send the documents for the agreement of the examination center, he completed the work.
Collection of lakhs in installments
The college management sent copies of the agreement to the examination center management. A reply was received from the other party that it was asked to send Rs 42,600 as refundable fee for registration. According to him, the college management sent the amount. After that the college building plan, ownership documents, current bills, internet connection details were collected and last December the examination equipment was to be jointly purchased and Rs 2.95 lakh was sent from the college account.
After this, in the same month he mailed again to send Rs 79 thousand for equipment and furniture transportation and Rs 2.6 lakh for furniture insurance and that amount was also transferred to the mentioned account. Till now it is fine, but after that the college management did not receive any call or mail from the concerned company.
After calling the college management on the phone numbers on which calls had been received so far and adding the relevant details, the college principal lodged a police complaint on the 6th of this month. Even the police have registered a case under BNS 318(4) and IT Act 66D sections and are investigating.
