Answer – Los Angeles – Outside the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, visitors are met by an illuminating art installation called “Urban Light.” Completed in 2008, artist Chris Burden’s assemblage sculpture comprises 202 restored street lamps from the 1920s and 1930s. Many of these lamps once lit the streets of southern California in Anaheim, Glendale, and Hollywood, while some were sourced from Portland, Oregon. After Burden started collecting the lamps without an artwork in mind, his studio was littered with various parts, or “lamp carcasses.” These lamp carcasses were later assembled into 16 different models of streetlamps to form Urban Light.
