Answer – Chicago – The ornate Chicago Water Tower is a famous addition to Chicago’s “Magnificent Mile” mall area and skyscraper. The landmark is strikingly different from other modern buildings downtown, as it was one of the few buildings to survive the notorious Chicago Fire of 1871. The Gothic-style tower was erected to store water in the 1860s. Architect William Boyington specifically designed the tower to be made of yellow Joliet limestone. The tower still stands strong today; it’s even the namesake for a nearby mall called Water Tower Place.:
