Chandrababu: If you have more than two children in Andhra Pradesh, you have a chance to contest local body elections..!
Chandrababu: AP CM has brought a new proposal to overcome the problems faced due to population decline. On the occasion of Sankranti, Nara made an important announcement to this effect in his village. People with less than two children are likely to be disqualified from contesting elections. The possibility of implementing it in the local body elections to be held in 2026 is being considered. Efforts are being made to provide an opportunity to those who have more than two children to participate in the competition.
The AP government has focused on increasing the number of elderly and reducing the population of productive youth in the country. Several decades of strict population control measures have led to population decline in the southern states. In this context, the AP government hopes to encourage larger families. CM Chandrababu plans to encourage families with more than two children. People with less than two children are likely to be disqualified from local body elections.
Concerns have been raised for many years about the share of state income in central taxes due to population decline in AP. After the division of the state, the population suffered a huge loss of revenue in lieu of the proposed population control efforts. This is the situation in all the southern states. States following population control expressed concern about revenue loss but the Center ignored it. Apart from this, due to decreasing population and increasing number of small families, the number of youth is also decreasing significantly.
In this context, the AP government is expected to take important decisions on population growth. Those who have less than two children may not be eligible for Panchayat elections. It is expected that Chandrababu will take such decisions in view of the population growth crisis.
Chandrababu said that if there were more children, they could not contest elections in Panchayats and if there were less children in local bodies, they could not contest elections. He said that he would become Sarpanch, Mayor and Municipal Councilor only when he had more than two children. They said they are working on it. On the occasion of Sankranti, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu put forward this proposal in Nara Vari Palli.
Chandrababu said that changes are also expected to be made in rice distribution to encourage the population. At present, each person is given 5 kg of rice on the ration card, whereas there was a limit of 25 kg, and a policy is being made to give additional rice to those who have more children.
Chandrababu predicted that North India’s population advantage would last only for a few years. He said that it is said that if there is no double income then no children, all the countries of the world are facing the same problem and in order to generate wealth and increase income this threat has been ignored. He said that South Korea has only 0.7 percent population and many countries are short of population and they need people. A situation will arise to send population from here. These problems need to be resolved immediately.
