TGSRTC Minister Ponnam: Buses will be confiscated if extra fare is charged during festivals – warning to private travel owners

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that Telangana RTC has decided to run 6432 special buses for the convenience of the people in view of the Sankranti festival. It is being told that these special buses are running from today. It was announced that RTC is ready to run more buses if the passengers require it.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has ordered RTC officials to be alert, special officers should be arranged at every major bus station so that passengers do not face any problem. He said that there will be free bus travel for women through Mahalaxmi Yojana. However, there is a possibility that additional women may come in the buses… He directed the officials to make all arrangements in this regard and there should be no problem.

Alert for private trips!

On the other hand, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has given a strict warning to the owners of private travels. If passengers are robbed in the name of extra charges during Sankranti festival, strict action should be taken. He clarified that private travel buses will be confiscated if extra charges are collected.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar suggested that if private travel owners charge extra, passengers should bring it to the notice of transport department officials. Officers were instructed to remain in the field and conduct continuous inspections. Any complaint should be responded to immediately. When the issue of charging extra fees comes to light, officials have been ordered to seize the buses and take strict action. Minister Ponnam reminded that the government gives priority to the safety and welfare of passengers. Travelers have been advised to be cautious during the festival.

Additional charges on special buses:

TGSRTC management has decided to run 6432 special buses during Sankranti. There is a possibility that there will be a huge rush of passengers on 10, 11 and 12 January. It has planned to provide special buses to handle rush hour on those days. Besides, proper arrangements have also been made to handle round trip rush on 19th and 20th of this month.

Special buses are running from busy areas of Hyderabad like MGBS, JBS, Uppal Cross Road, Arrangar, LB Nagar Cross Road, KPHB, Boinpally, Gachibowli etc. Pandals, tents, chairs, public address system, drinking water facilities and mobile toilets have been installed in those areas for the convenience of the passengers.

TGSRTC said the revised charges (50 per cent) will be applicable only on 10th, 11th, 12th and 19th and 20th of this month when round trip traffic will be higher. It has been clarified that normal fare will be applicable in regular buses except special buses.
