Central Manair Canal: Flood water entered the canal in Karimnagar district, crop fields and houses were inundated.
Mid Manair Canal: Negligence of drainage department officials in Karimnagar district has once again been exposed. There is no monitoring of the canals by the officials who have been releasing irrigation water since the first of this month. 250 cusecs of water is being released from Mid Manor into the right side canal. That water will irrigate Mankondur Husnabad constituencies from Thottapalli reservoir. Water was released into the sub-canal from Timmapur Mandal Pichupalli to Manandur Mandal Changerla. A little more water was released to irrigate the last Ayakattu changers in the higher areas. Due to this, there was flood in Mannampalli early in the morning. The villagers immediately informed the authorities and stopped releasing water into the canal.
Flood water in SC Colony
Due to blockage of the canal, SC Colony of Mannampalli village was filled with flood water. Flood water entered many houses. Residents of SC Colony, who were ready to cook roti on the festival occasion, got drenched after canal water entered their houses. Crop fields have been submerged. Residents of SC Colony as well as villagers expressed concern that the canal was causing damage to crops as well as household items getting wet and celebrating the festival. Demanded adequate compensation.
fourth time
This is the fourth time the canal has collapsed in Mannempalli. When it rained recently, the villagers became angry and demanded measures to stop rains in future. The officials carelessly dumped the soil and left it. Since there is a mound next to the canal, DP has been installed there to drain the flood water. The villagers allege that the flood level in the canal is high…the embankment is covered with mud and the canal is flooding. Now the officials have given up negligence and demanded to build the dam with concrete. Presently the villagers including former Sarpanch Anjaiya are demanding that water should be released into the canal only after the embankment is constructed by the CC.
Union Minister Bandi Sanjay took information about Gandhi
Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar took information about Kanalva Gandhi. The villagers were called and got information about the problems being faced by the people due to the drain and suggested relief measures to the officials. Manakondur MLA DCC president Kavvampalli Satyanarayana visited the affected area and inspected it. He met the victims whose houses were flooded by flood water through the canal and encouraged them. He assured that he will intensify relief efforts and try to provide adequate compensation to the victims. Minister Sanjay called Karimnagar Collector Pamela Satpathy and asked the villagers to take immediate relief measures so that the farmers do not face any problem with the canal. Irrigation Department officials are busy in repairing the canal by stopping the water.
